www.bspot.co.za is the website of Beauty Spot Skin & Body Clinic, Gibraltar House, 74 Regent Road, Sea Point, Cape Town 8005. We are the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy.
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it and how we look after it, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Please read it before using the website. We take care of your personal information and undertake to keep it confidential and secure.
Personal information we collect
Device information. When you visit the website, our web host automatically records certain technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, time zone, the pages you view, and the website or search that referred you. We refer to this as "Device Information".
Information you give us. If you contact us or ask for a booking by WhatsApp, phone or email, we receive what you choose to send, such as your name, phone number, email address and the treatment and day you would like. The booking form on this website simply opens WhatsApp with your request filled in. Nothing you type into it is stored on the website.
At your appointment. New clients complete a consultation form so we can recommend safe, suitable treatments. That information is used only to look after you and is kept confidential.
You can visit the website without telling us who you are. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we process your information
We keep to the minimum that is needed. We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiries and arrange, confirm or change your appointments;
- give you safe and suitable treatment and keep a record of it;
- keep the website secure and identify possible abuse; and
- understand, in general terms, how the website is used. This statistical information is not used to identify any individual.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not send marketing messages unless you have asked for them.
Who else sees it
When you contact us through WhatsApp, Gmail or similar services, your message passes through that provider, which has its own privacy practices. The website is delivered by a web hosting provider, and map and directions links open Google Maps. We only share your information with people who need it to provide our service, or where the law requires it (see "Legal disclosure" below).
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to see it, to correct it, to delete it, and to stop using it. You can also object to how we process it. To do any of this, contact us using the details below. If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
If you are a European resident, the rights set out in the GDPR also apply to you: the right to be informed, of access, to rectification, to erasure, to restrict processing, to data portability, to object, and rights in relation to automated decision-making and profiling. Please contact us if you would like to exercise any of them.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires, and then delete or anonymise it.
Links to other websites
Our website contains links to other websites, such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, that we do not own or control. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy statement of each website that may collect personal information when you leave ours.
Information security
We keep your information in controlled, secure environments, protected from unauthorised access, use or disclosure, and we maintain reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards against unauthorised access, use, modification and disclosure. No transmission of data over the internet or a wireless network can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Legal disclosure
We will disclose information we collect, use or receive if required or permitted by law, for example to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process, and when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
